Why do people pay so much for just BRANDS?!?

Like, why would someone pay so much money, just for Dooney & Burke written all over your purse or whatever. I personally think all designer purses are ugly as.. yeah. So if you have ever bought one, or know why someone would, please let me know, because I am CLUELESS. Thankss!

Many people feel more secure when they "pay for a name". Sometimes it is good to pay a brand like Michelin tires because they really are the best. On the other hand it has been my experience to get a much better deal on high quality "generic" rather than brand name computers like Gateway or Dell. Of course I am more knowledgeable about computers than most people.

Another (very foolish) reason people buy brand name merchandise is because manufacturers will pay obscene amounts of money to celebrity spokespeople. "Celebrities" do not influence my purchasing decisions at all. That is the main reason I avoid brand names. I hate to pay extra money so that a celebrity who knows nothing about the product gets so much of my hard earned money.

I have a coach wristlet, and a dooney and bourke wallet. I like them because they are QUALITY names, not just so I can wave it in everyone's face that I have designer stuff and so I have the satisfaction. And besides, my DB wallet was $8, and my wristlet was $34. If you don't like designer because it's expensive,you seem like the perfect canidate to go to tjmaxx or macy*s, they have stuff that is like half of the retail value, and it's not crappy or cheap looking. If you don't like it because it is covered in letters, I would suggest coach, but the outlets or macy*s much cheaper, because they have letters on like a few of their bags, but they MUST have the C's on the insides so you know its real. the DB, I don't like because they put their initials on EVERYTHING! And really, NOT all designer stuff is ugly as s*** because it sounds like you don't like it 'cause the price. like i said, go to tjmaxx or macy*s. whatever you do don't go to neiman marcus, they JACK UP their prices!!!!

people pay soo much because it shows class and also gains you popularity. many people let brands represent their wealth and who they are...other people just want to brag about having a designer handbag

Well i dont do that with purses but i used to do it with jeans and shirts and stuff. But then i realized, i could jus go to Mervyn's and buy better clothes. I think ppl do this bcuz they want to show it off and wanna be "kool". But its like...whatever.

some people are just really weird and want to "fit in" so they buy high brand clothes or they do it to make people think they're rich because those brands are so expensive. im in high school and i see that a lot

Well it's their money, not yours. Besides have you even worn any brand named stuff. They are are very comfy and they look nice. it's human nature to impress somebody else who doesn't have them, or show off to them.
