It depends on how much tax is in your state. In Ohio it's 6.5 %.
To figure it out, add up your purchases: $400 + $60 = $460
Convert 6.5 % to a decimal (move the decimal place 2 places to the left) = .065
Now there are two ways to go from here, you can either find .065 time 460 and add that to the 460
.065 x460 = 29.90
29.90 + 460 = 489.90
Or
you could have multiplied the 460 by 1.065 (this way adds in the 460 automatically for you)
1.065 X 460 = 489.90
Hope this helps... at least now maybe you can figure it out when you find out your areas tax rate.

Depends on what state and county you are in. Find out the percentage of sales tax in your county. Then multiply 460 by that percentage then divide by 100. That should give you the amount of tax you'll pay. Then add that to 460 and you'll have your answer.
