I have a great idea for a comic strip and some original artwork and was wondering where I submit it to get it in the newspaper. I know that hundreds of artists try to get their comics into the paper but I don't even know where to begin. Any help would be appreciated.

Newspapers order comic strips via syndicated services. You need to send copies of your strip idea to them. The major ones are King Features and United Media both which accept submissions (see links). Good luck.

When I was 12 I submited my comics to the local (my towns) paper by taking a sheet of them in and giving it to the person at the desk. I got 2 out of 50 in the paper. That might work for yours too.

Why submit to one newspaper when you can submit your comic strip to a successful syndicate who has a knowledgeable sales force who can promote to newspapers, both in print and online. See the submission guidelines for one of the most success comic syndicators, Universal Press Syndicate (Doonesbury, Cathy, Calvin & Hobbes, For Better of For Worse, etc.): http://content.uclick.com/submissions1.html

You will need to assemble several months worth of material before anyone will take you seriously.
