The reason full breasts developed in our species is an indirect result of the pair bonding process that sets us apart from other primates.
Take a look at other primates and you'll notice they all copulate in a similar manner. In many primates the female will display her genitals or--if she has them--buttocks to the male. The male will then mount her from behind. The two hemispheres of the buttocks were a strong sexual signal for our antecedent species.
Back to pair bonding. We recognize members of our species primarily by the shape and arrangement of their faces. So in order to pair bond with our mates we have to see their faces, and as pair bonding is, first and foremost, a result of sexual contact, our great (to the nth power) grandparents needed to see each others faces while copulating.
Unfortunately granny's hindquarters were her primary signaling device and granddad couldn't pull himself away from those two hemispheres of fatty tissue. So nature found a workaround, get some sex signaling hemispherical devices on the front side, where the face was.
That is why human breasts are the way they are.
That's also why we have color delineated lips and many other features. If you're interested in learning more about this check my source.

My guess would be breast-feeding.
I thought it would be interesting to include the fact that men can also breast-feed. In a study done by an independent reasearch company, the men's breasts swelled a little, gave out milk. However the milk was a tad different from a woman's. They're not sure why.

The breast tissue is a modified sweat gland used to excrete milk in order to feed the mother's child. They exist in men, but in a minor and weakened form; that's why men have nipples too. All female mammals feed their young with breast milk; although they may be located elsewhere. The cow's udder is underneath the cow where the calf can easily reach it. Dairy cows are feed hormones to keep their bodies thinking that they are pregnant. This increases their milk production.
During pregnancy a woman's breasts tend to enlarge and fill with mother's milk. This milk is a complex mix of proteins and hormones as well as nourishment that the baby needs to be healthy.
They look so good to men because they are the sign of a woman in prime breeding condition. Large breasts mean that the mother can nurse a large family. This is biological conditioning and built into the genes of the males. They can't help it’s part of what makes them men.

First off Both boys and girls have breasts. Women have more fat tissue then men (usually). With the right hormons, men could actually produce milk and feed babies....everything is there.
There is no relationship between breast size and ability to breastfeed, and it is a common belief that human female breasts are shaped the way they are so that they can feed babies by producing milk. However, their shape is also thought to have evolved due to sexual attraction.

This is actually a very good question.
Other mammals do NOT have breasts, but still feed their babies milk. So, why have WE got them?
Desmond Morris suggested in his landmark work, The Naked Ape, that breasts developed in response to male interest in buttocks (lower primates, such as chimps and gorillas, mate from behind).
Morris says that it's possible the breasts, resembling butt cheeks, may have stimulated early hominid males to mate front-to-front, as people usually do today.
But, do read the book, it's electrifying!

Interesting questions...all female mammals lactate, but most do not have breasts that protrude from the chest. Most of the volume of the breast is fatty tissue, it's only the mammary glands that produce milk. All mammals have mammary glands, but few seem to have the additional fatty tissue. Cows have them...quite a few of them, and many primates have them to one degree or another. I believe the higher fat content in a human's diet allows for the excessive growth of these protruberances, which are not strictly necessary for just feeding infants. They may act as cues to attract a mate, which is necessary for the continuation of the species.
