My ipod is stuck in lock mode?

It only turn on when I connect it with my computer.

It should be charging the batteries while connected to your P.C.. There is a mechanical switch on the top, it is a hold switch, slide it to the "off hold" position.Then hit any button to turn it on. To turn it off press and hold the play/pause button. That's the way it should work. If it doesn't then have it repaired.
