What does anyone make of that?

A manatee is a semitropical creature. They have never been known to swim farther norther than Georgia. This guy was swimming up the Hudson, in other words, going even farther north.

I'd like to here what any of you make of this phenomenon...

Actually, they have been spotted as far north as Rhode Island, and as hot as it is, it does not surprise me. I live on a canal in south Florida, and we have lots of manatee visits. So, New Yorkers, if you want to get a close look, run your hose into the water. Manatees love hose water, and will head for the sound of a hose run into the water. They love all greens, but particularly lettuce, and they are sweet , kind, gentle creatures that will trust anyone with a hose and greens. Be nice!

Oh the huge manatee of it all!!(have been waiting for years to use that pun)
I believe that the water is pretty warm in the Atlantic this year.
Went swimming this year in between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick and the water was warmer than it usually is ,remarkably so. My mom has been there for years and she was amazed at it. I am sure that this is part of a warming trend.

The reflexive action is to ascribe this to global warming. But we really don't have enough information to decide this conclusively. Additionally, according to the article in my source list they have been spotted as far north as Rhode Island and off the coast of Long Island before so maybe it's just something that happens now and then and not such a freak occurance as it's been made out to be.

I think this manatee lost its GPS system and was looking to get a new one at the White Plains Best Buy.

There's always one Manatee that can't read the map. He's just lost, the neighbors will help him find his way.
