Is it still going on in your state; or do you think it is hidden among minorities?

Yea, white people are pretty racist as a general rule, and even if they aren't actively racist, they benefit from a racist system, just as men benefit from a misogynist system.

Before you frothing-at-the-mouth types jump all over me: no, I'm not saying all white people don sheets and burn crosses. Racism isn't just about lynching or absolutely hating [ethnic minority]. No, I don't care how many [minority ethnic group] friends you have: that doesn't make you not racist or against racism. Deal with it.

And I'm lily-white, by the way, and it pisses me the hell off that I have privileges that people of color don't, just because I'm white, just as it should piss every intelligent man off that they have privileges that I don't.

Darrell,

Racism, is a facet of a much larger problem, called "fear of what is different". Human beings, as a rule, do not feel comfortable around people who are significantly different than themselves. It doesn't have to be race. It can be the way you dress, the music you listen to, or the church you attend. We are most comfortable with the people who are most like us. The ironic thing about that is, that some of the people we are comfortable around, are the worst. There are people in other racial/cultural groups who are far more worthy of your trust, than a lot of the people who resemble you culturally/racially. Almost everybody improves upon acquaintance. The problem of racism, will not go away, until people of EVERY racial group, STOP infecting their children, with their ignorant attitudes about other racial/cultural groups. Which racial group is the most prejudiced? All of them. I spent a number of years working in a maximum security prison, and I am hear to tell you, there are no exceptions. Every racial/cultural group, mistrusts every other dissimilar group. Period. It requires a person of extraordinary character, to overlook our differences, and build bridges between us. It all starts with a smile.
