My cousin always says, "You're too short, Laquondia". Why can't I say back to her "You're too fat, (cousin's name)"?

I'm 5"2" 110 lbs, she's 5'5" 225 lbs - she's only 3 measly inches taller than me.

call her fat. so what. you're right, that's a good question. let's face it, lardo's can control that. they make themselves fat. being short, well you can't help that at all. nothing can be done about it. it's not like if you eat as much as her you'll grow taller. but if she stopped inhaling food at god speed maybe she would lose some weight.

Maybe your cousin doesn't have any self esteem. So, her way to hurt others is to get them first. By no means am I saying this is right. Since I am only 4'10. And it's pointed out too me often also. But, my line is "I never have any problems finding a guy taller than me". And not all weight issues can be controlled unless she has seen a Dr and is under a Dr's care. Sometimes that also is genetics. When she's says your Short, As her "Did you just notice that?" or Wow, you got too be kidding me... Or as I say, Well not really, I'm taller than most 2ND graders... I just make a joke out of it.. Some people know how to handle their insecurities and some don't. But, to critique her about her weight would be completely wrong. Like they say 2 wrongs don't make a right!!!

There's no way a short person can change their height, so they're not going to avoid ridicule. But being over weight is a controllable factor in your body. When you call a person fat, they feel like they brought it on them selves, and they really are fat (even if they really aren't!!). Even if you were being serious or just joking, it's gonna make them sad and pissed...but who knows? maybe they don't care. A dis is a dis....

Lots of reasons, but mostly because people can't help what height they are, so it's not seen as a personal insult when they are called short. We have control of our weight, so calling someone fat is more an issue of saying that they are overweight, unhealthy, lack self-control, etc.
But really, you can call anyone fat, especially if they are picking on you. It would at least get them to stop making fun of your height.

i know how u feel I'm about the same height and weight u are.... I'm constantly being called short by family and friends. my friends are only like 3 inches taller than me and they fell like I'm so tiny but when I'm with them i feel as if I'm the same height....telling ur cousin shes fat wont solve anything but cause more fights....one way or another u have to get it across to her that u know ur short but that u don't have to be reminded of it every time u talk

Actually, that is just ignorance. Short people don't like being called short, either. It is often used as a way of acting superior to them, as in, "Gawwwssshhhhh..... I wuz as short as YOO when I wuz abowwwt TWELLLVE...!!!" Shut up, people, if you can't think of anything more intelligent than that, to say to a person who isn't as tall as you are.

It's rude to call a MAN short. Girls, maybe maybe not....you shouldn't say something you know will hurt a person's feelings.

When you call someone fat you are pointing out one of their weaknesses. Which is offensive. When you call someone short you are stating an obvious fact that is beyond their control.

Your cousin calling you short is rude. It might not seem as bad, but if it makes you feel bad, then they shouldn't do it. I think it's just the same- they both make you feel bad, one's just seen as more socially acceptable, and that shouldn't be the case.

well, first of all, if she reads these she will know how you feel right away, Laquondia. After all,.........hence the name.
And second of all. Its her insecurities making her call you that.
They're both wrong. Any stupid, shallow person who answered otherwise could never matter in the realm of life.
