A "quick" lesson...hmmmn. I'll try. Overall...you create an auction and list it on eBay by describing your item, payment, shipping, etc. It is viewed by buyers looking for your item. They can "bid" on your item. The auction has set time periods that you decide and then it is "closed" and you work out payment details with your buyer. It is very simple once you get past posting your first auction.
1) Register on eBay for an account (in order to be a seller you have to place a credit card on file and/or bank account for seller fee's to be deducted).
2) Click the "Sell" icon at the top of the screen and list your items (it is a step-by-step system and easy to follow).
Pretty simple, huh? Well there are some tricks that I will tell you about....
What price should you sell at? I would suggest doing an "Advanced Search" on eBay of COMPLETED LISTINGS ONLY that are similar to what you intend to sell. This way you can get a "going" rate of what you are selling to know where to start the bidding price at.
Types of auctions:
a) You can have an online auction in which you enter the LOWEST amount you will accept as the starting bid price and then the price increases as people bid on your item. b) You can have a fixed price auction in which you set the amount that you want to receive for your item and there is NO bidding...someone just clicks the "BUY IT NOW" link for the amount that you want for your item. c) There is also a combination of these two where you can enter a "Reserve Price." The auction will run just as an online auction (people can bid and it increases the dollar amount) BUT you have a price set that you will not accept ANY less than this amount. If someone wins and it is under the price you said you would sell it for...the auction is null and void. The bidders are not privy to the amount you have set it just informs them that the reserve price has not been met.
Payment options: You can have people pay you through money order or check (by sending to your home) or you can set up a PayPal account so that the funds can be transferred to your account. There is a small fee for accepting payments that is taken directly from the transaction when it "hits" your account. Once the funds are in your PayPal account you can either have them cut you a check, transfer it to your bank account, use it to make purchases on eBay for yourself or sign up for a PayPal Debit Card (the balance of the debit card is simply the amount you have received from buyers). With the debit card you can also withdraw cash at an ATM.
Shipping: You will want to just browse through some auctions of similar items to see what people are charging for shipping or go to USPS and calculate the shipping based on the weight of your items.
I THINK this is as quick as I can get it. There are some links to help you!!! Good luck!!! It can be alot of fun and a good way to make some extra money if you have cooperative bidders...

1) Open an eBay account
2) Click on "Community" and read all the "how do I...." - pages
3) Be honest with your customers!
4) Make your descriptions as detailed as possible (especially for Baby Clothes and Jewelry!!)
5) Get a good digital camera which also does "Macro", and learn how to make and process (Adobe Photoshop) good photos where people actually can see details of the item
6) Never allow someone to pick up items at your house, even if he/she lives around the corner! Meet somewhere neutral instead.
Open a PayPal account (not essential, but most eBay-ers use it for speed and convenience).
7) Ship a.s.a.p. after you received payment, and don't try to make too much profit on shipping cost (as some do).
.... I could go on forever....

It's pretty simple. First, you have to register with ebay and make a seller's account. Also, if you want to accept paypal payments, you must go to paypal.com and setup a merchant's account. But once again, all of that is pretty easy.
Then just go to ebay, sign-in and click the 'Sell' button at the top of the screen. This will take you to the sellers form where you fill out info about your item. This is also where you add pictures, set prices, etc.
That's pretty much it! If you need more info, here is a great tutorial for basic info:

It's pretty easy 2 sell on Ebay, but there should be a store in ur local area (literally, not on the internet) like Isoldit or sumthing like that. They can sell ur stuff on Ebay 4 u @ ur price, but they charge a percent fee.

set up an ebay account, a paypal account, and start selling. but look at similar items you are selling to get an idea on how much people are willing to bid, because every time you post an auction, it costs you money.

Under the "community" link - find "discussions" and go visit both the auction listings board, and the bidding board. You can ask them questions, and get LOADS of great advice.
