I think it depends on what he/she is watching. If it's the good stuff, geared to an older audience, I say sit down and watch a 12 or 26 episode series with your roommate. You might end up liking what you see. If it's the kiddie stuff, then...I dunno. Just find something that YOU personally are obsessed with. Although, if this person is intentionally trying to annoy you with it, try having a civilized conversation about the problem. If that's not the case, try to see what fascinates him/her about it so much. When I started watching anime, I put myself into the "geek/nerd" category, and was really afraid to admit I liked it so much. But you know what? My fiance (at the time) started loving it just as much as I did, so you see my point? Anime isn't just for kids anymore.

You've got a couple really good options here:
1) Get some headphones, listen to some music, and tune out the anime. And tune out the roommate, too, while you're at it.
2) Cease all brain function and mindlessly watch anime episode after anime episode. After a while, you won't care what's on the TV anymore.

Go buy Star Wars films, Comic Book Films, or Star Trek films and watch them in front of your roommate. Anime is for mindless drones.
