The Sun is a middle of the main stream class G star and yellow. Its vastness and intensity make it a white light. It is a pure light and does contain all the colors of the rainbow....at least that is the color we see. Same as in a carbon arc lamp, it too can produce the spectrum.

To get the real answer you determine the color of hot objects by the equivalent black body radiation temperature. Color is our perception and is not accurate. For example the Sun is about 6000K this determines the wavelength at which the radiation from the sun peaks. Other stars have higher temperatures and look bluer and other stars have lower temperatures and look redder. But I am sure to someone that evolved on a planet around those stars they look "white" because their eyes evolved to use the light of those stars.

There is never a real color, just an amount of light that our eyes change into a color of our color spectrum. I think that it would be white.

The color of the sun is called ROYGBIV, pronounced "ROY-gee-biv."

It stands for

Red
