It's a hysterectomy and the after affects are those of menopause. There is a difference though. Check out the links below.

Hysterectomy.

effects:: NO MORE MENSES
Have to take hormones unless they do not take the ovaries out BUT down the road,the ovaries will begin to deteriorate,and you have to take hormones.

Some experience vaginal dryness,which is easily fixed by lubrication.

Some have mood swings

Some have hot flashes.

At least that is what happened to me.

When a woman has a hysterectomy,it is the same as going through early menopause.

As the person above me answered, it is a hysterectomy. The after effects mean that the person can no longer have children, and depending on whether or not the surgeon leaves an ovary or not it could cause earily menopause. Bonus though....no BC or periods!

it is called partial hysterectomy....thats when they remove only part of a womans re-productive organs..The average hospital stay depends on the type of hysterectomy performed, but is usually from 2 to 3 days. Complete recovery may require 2 weeks to 2 months. Recovery from a vaginal or laparoscopic hysterectomy is faster than from an abdominal hysterectomy, and may include less pain..Most recover completely from hysterectomy.

partial hysterectomy. If they take the ovaries also, it is a full hysterectomy. They always try to leave the ovaries since they produce the hormones that make you female. If they take the ovaries, you turn into a guy but with no penis or testicles

I had one. About 6 weeks of recovery. Maybe 4. No more monthlies. I wrap up everything and gave it away. Money saved. Some hormone replacement. Don't miss it at all.
