This isn't directed at either party, because I've seen both do it. Certain groups seem to have predetermined answers they repeat every time they see a question on a given topic, whether it's relevant to the actual question or not. For instance, some people answer every global warming question with, "There's no such thing!", even though sometimes that's not what's being asked (and don't go there; I'm not taking sides; I just hate it when people do when they clearly have no clue what they're talking about because they haven't read a single article). What's worse is that these responses are straight from political pundits and clearly no research has been done. Even when some of the answerers post links to sites with information from qualified experts, these people refuse to read them. This is true of some askers as well as answerers, and sadly they're learning nothing if they don't bother to read any of the answers before picking the first to say, "You're absolutely right."

Good point, Robert M, but I wouldn't call those people intelligent. They only think they know everything, so they don't bother to look at both sides. I'm always willing to consider evidence from both sides of an issue.

relies upon. If it truly is an hardship-free question like this, I answer first. If it truly is a homework-proper question, I study solutions first to be certain if every person were given the same answer that I did (because there is no aspect answering if there is).

I guess some people like to collect points. I don't know why they are like the points on the TV show, "Whose Line Is it Anyway" They don't matter and they aren't worth a thing. I answer when a question interests me.

Points mostly. Greed and laziness. Don't you forget about people who are so intelligent that they cant stand reading more than short article and any book are "devil creation" for them? They exist and are sometimes annoying as you noticed.

Because most people think its easier to "take sides" than to be truly analytical.
