The inside front cover says that its publication dates were 1945, 46 and 51. There is no mention of any other printing date. It is not a Book Club edition and it does not have Salinger's photo on the back cover. The cover is the traditional red, gold and white sketch of Central Park and the carousel horse (by Michael Mitchell).

I also notice that I do not see any ISBN number anywhere on the book. It has 277 pages.

On the back of the title page, there should be a copywrite date which should state how old it was.

If those are the dates on the front cover, I would assume it was 1951 (since it was the last date mentioned).

The last copyright date mentioned is when it was published. I believe that also means it's a third edition (if not, then it's a third printing). The previous dates were when the books was first published, and the second time it was published.

there should be a copyright date in the front somewhere too... that should tell you what year it was printed...
