his public defender is saying that he most likely get 9-16 months and he has already served 6 and has yet to be arraigned. he has no prior record and the robbery was unarmed. he supposedly got away with 7 grand. i was just wondering how realistic is it for him to get 9-16 months considering this crime? it seems like too much of a lenient sentence for a crime like this. please answer if u have knowledge of this or your opinions are welcome

Why are you friends with a bank robber?

bank robbery is a federal offense. He'll be lucky to only get 9- 16 months.

Prosecutors and judges have a softness for the bank teller who is probably going to say that she's having nightmares and that he scared her...

the best thing for your friend to do is cooperate, and push for a speedy trial, but timed served before his trial counts towards his sentance.. also, if he has any health issues, he can be sent to a federal hospital/jail or if he has drug problems, he can be sent to a rehabilitaion jail where 10 months served counts as 12 months!!

It wont be that bad, tell your friend to hang in there!

Its stupid that he did it and escaped with the money unarmed. He commited a federal so, even though it seems unlikely that he should get all that time he's gonna get it,maybe more.
