Please keep your imaginary friend for life.
When you're adult you need to become discerning about whom to tell about your imaginary friend because not everyone will understand. But that's all. You just protect your imaginary friend better from doubters. But you keep him or her of course and have them give you good advice. Which you need much more of when you're adult because you have more decisions to make. Make some more imaginary friends and have them tell you the best good-night stories and love you unconditionally and always be there for you when you need them.
And of course enjoy the company of plenty of good non-imaginary friends as well when you can.

In general terms yes. Have you see the movie A WONDERFUL MIND??? THey say Imaginery freinds go away by age 8, if they stay, the person is consider delusional... you better seek some help it does not make sense to have one at 21. It is perhpas a frustration or other underlying problem that brings that to your consiensce.
Please go see some help before people make fun of you. Sincerely Dr. MAXR

Depends on when and where the advice is given. In the middle of a meeting, not a good thing.
Watch the movie Harvey. Starring Jimmy Stewart.

Well, now that you're an adult, you know "he/she" isn't actually real. So it isn't an imaginary friend, it's yourself. You consult your mind & heart to give you advice. There's nothing wrong with that!!
