I'm proud of new moms who Choose to breastfeed. You do everything as healthy as possible for your baby while in your womb for 9 months to give your baby the best possible start in life. Why not do it for a few more months. I am a mom of 6 and I have breastfed all of them. Mom's milk is the ABSOLUTE best for babies. I have been breast feeding since 2002 and I am not going to lie. I don't have the boobs that I had when I was 18. But I look at it this way. I am already married, my husband loves me just the way I am and It's healthiest for my children, whom I would do anything for. Yes some healthcare professionals "push" breastfeeding onto new moms but I think that they know what would be best for the babies. Bottom line is....your body is going to change regardless....your breasts are going to sag as you get older......most moms welcome these badges of honour with pride. If you choose to breastfeed good for you, get as much help as possible...if you choose not to breastfeed..thats ok....love your baby as much as possible ..hold them close and either way cherish them

Okay, I am a mom of 2 who never breastfed, as I did not feel comfortable enough to do it. With my first son who is now 6 & a very healthy & extremely smart, & easy going child, I was pushed by the nurses but never by the dr. who knew I had Crohn's disease & could end up on some serious meds in the near future. With my second boy I was never even pressured, I told them that I was using soy formula & they brought it to my room. I honestly believe that some mothers who breastfeed look down on mothers who don't, without even considering their choice. And the whole BS of bonding while breastfeeding and not with bottlefeeding is a complete load of crap, you will bond with your baby no matter how you choose to feed them. And yes your body will change no matter what, it's a sign of getting older, how many women over the age of 70 have perky boobs???

I am a mom of 4. I dont think its being pushed onto new moms at all. In the hospital you are given a choice to either breast or bottle, I always chose to breastfeed. I did research on both and thought that it would be better for me and my babies if I chose to breastfeed.
PROS FOR MOMS
breastfeeding soon after delivery helps minimize bleeding
breastfeeding helps the uterus return to its pre-pregnancy shape faster
breastfeeding is more convient-you dont have to lug bottles and formula everywhere you go
breastfeeding is less expensive
breastfeeding helps mom return to pre-pregnancy weight faster
breastfeeding helps develop closeness between mom and baby
CONS FOR MOMS
breastfeeding ties you to the baby 24/7 (I see that as a pro)
dad or other family cant help feed baby unless you pump the milk
breastfeeding can get frustrating if baby doesnt catch on right away
breastfeeding may be painful for the first week or two (Never happened to me)
Engorment (only happened with one child)
sore cracked nipples-only happens if you dont latch the baby on properly
clogged milk ducts-happens if baby isnt latched on properly
slight posibility of breast infection-shouldnt happen if you latch baby on properly and you follow the discharge papers for breastfeeding moms
PROS FOR BABY
the antibodies in breast milk help fight infections
colostrum (pre-milk substance) is an ideal first food
breast milk helps safegaurd against the development of allergies and other medical conditions
breast milk is easily digested
breast milk changes to fit the needs of a growing baby (mothers milk if even different for preemie babies than full term babies)
breastfeeding develops closeness between mom and baby
CONS FOR BABY
NONE

No, No, NO! Breast feeding is the real way to feed your baby, unless your have bad milk, and in that case you should do something different. Studies have proved that moms breast milk contains antibodies that most children miss out on and this is a direct cause of a lot of problems with kids today.

Your breasts will never be the same whether you breast feed or not. Breastfeeding is what is best for your baby. Formula was developed for the women who cannot breastfeed. It was a civilized replacement for wet nurses.

yes your body will never be the same...i breast fed all 3 of my kids. it does help you lose weight faster...that is a good thing...its healthier for the baby also good....it bonds you with your child...also good....the only bad thing i can personally think of is that your boobs will sag from it...they will definately need a "lift" after you are done breast feeding..i wasn't pushed into doing it..i just always knew i would...oh one more pro...it reduces your risk of getting breast cancer...

Wise mothers, who care about their newborns, won't need to be pushed, they will do it happily.
