It's a way to report someone who is answering with profanity or anything else that might be violent or offensive to you. You can also report people's questions if they are offensive or violent in nature. It's a good thing to have, since some folks on here use questionable language and themes in their answers and questions.

Internet is a virtual world where you sit in your room, no one is watching you and you do not have an immediate fear that some one will catch you doing some thing wrong. This infact makes a few people do stuff which they will normally not do in real life due to the fear that they will be caught.

On internet, at interactive places like yahoo answers, where what ever you write is communicated to the world immediately and it is not filtered, a certain set of rules is applied which every one is expected to follow. Internet is a free access to every one including minors and any thing not suitable for them must not be published in areas accessible by general public.

As you would treat the visitors in your house with dignity and honor, same is ecpected over the internet. If you will be sober, people like to be your friend and want to talk to you because we all are here to know each other, talk to each other and make virtual friends worldover.

These are the rules (mostly involve common sense) and if you ever find that some people have not followed that, you can report against them to the team handling that web site/ yahoo answers. This reporting is called "report abuse" which is possible by clicking on the button available with every post.

Reporting abuse (if that really is an abuse) is not like complainig or back biting against some one. Infact its for the betterment of service, for keeping the answers clean and to make this area a source of information for every one including minors, so please use it judisciously.

Link is given below if you will like to have a look on code of conduct yahoo expects all of us to adhere to.

Regard!!

if you mean report abuse in yahoo, then read the answer below:
Report abuse in yahoo is a service to tell yahoo about hackers, spammers and annoyers, for example when you ask a question in yahoo and get a rude answer from some one you can report him, or you find your self a member in a group that you never heard of, or many other things which may be classified as abuse.

after you report, then leave it for yahoo experts to do there work.

it is something that is supposed to give you the assurance that someone you report is going to get in trouble it does not really work:P

on here you can ask a question and someone may threaten you about something you can click on report abuse and yahoo marks it as a count against them i would think that so many "counts" against a person their internet privilages are cut off but i think it would take a LOT for that to happen

i have a freind who has some guy harraseing her:P he then got my information and did something to my computer my freind gave me his id name and we both kept going to his name blocking him and reporting him we must of did this 20-30 times and nothing happened ...

wait for someone to be rude to you and try it out ... :P

as for you people who diss people that ask questions like this shame on you :P people are new to the internet all the time there are going to be people who do not know what certian features mean - get over yourself lmao

hope i helped :)

LOL. It's when somebody puts a post on your question that violates the rules and regulations of the board you are using. That way the webmaster or whoever's in charge can deal with it and remind them that such a post is not allowed. If it is bad enough, the user will be banned from the boards.

"Report Abuse" is when you see an asker you feel is offensive and/or in violation of standards of this forum set by Yahoo. If enough participants report someone, then Yahoo will look into the matter and take appropriate actions.

People are abusing you with their answers and I should report a couple of them...Abuse is when someone is asking a question that will GENERALLY incite others to anger or is just plain OFFENSIVE. Same is true of answers. PEACE!
