RRRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!! (And pray as I run...)

Lol, I highly doubt praying will get me anywhere. That bomb is coming and nothing's stopping it. I suppose I'd try to run for my life, even though when a nuclear bomb hits, the range of effect it has can be of over a mile so I doubt I can get very far by running. I suppose it's either that or somehow teleporting myself to anothercountry. =D But hey, if the bomb is going to strike, I think I'd rather plant myself right where it's going to hit so my death is quick and painless. XD

20 mins? Top choice, is the first plane I can catch out of the zone. Driving (car needs a trans) is not a great option. Also the Roads will jam just like in Katrina. If you did though at 60mph* 20mins=20 miles. Not a great distance, but it might be just enough to escape the blast. Fall out would depend on size of blast, wind, and terrain. Again even at Nagasaki, people did survive the event.

Best hope? Pray our tax dollars in missile defense pay off.....

When I was 18, I once flew over the Rockies and went through a violent thunderstorm for at least 1 hour. Everyone on the plane was upset. I went to sleep (it was 2:00 am). If your time is up, it is up. The wings were moving 10-15 feet up and down it seemed as we were buffetted. When I saw that happen the first time, I said to myself, don't worry about it for there isn't a thing I can do about it.

For your question: I'd find a good shelter nearby for me and my family and try to comfort them with prayer and hope and courage. If we survived, I'd be immediately prepared mentally to help organize how we continue to survive.

Nothing at all.
I'd have to just accept it and let it happen.
The only thing I might do is find some basement somewhere and hop I survive the fallout

I'd get myself in a comfortable position for when I die...next to my favorite books and a honeybun. Seriously. I'm not afraid of death.

I would make sure that I can meet my family at home before it hits so we can all have our last minutes together.

Think of a best cover in the proximity of 0.3-0.4 mile. Walk/run that way.
