the best scene from the godfather movies is in the first one when Michael Corleone has all the betrayers killed at the end while he is at the baptism of his godson..... 13 is not too young, i actually read the book at 13 and then watched it, as long as he knows that movies are movies and not to try to re-enact killing and stuff

I saw the Godfather with my mother at a very early age, probably around 9 or 10, and only you know your child's maturity or lack-there-of to decide. I don't think a 13 year old will see anything he hasn't seen on cable or played in a videogame.
And my favourite scenes are when Sonny is shot in the car as well as the horsehead in the bed. The most graphic, yes, but memorable.

30 yrs. ago, I would have said that he is too young to see "The Godfather". With the things that kids are exposed to on TV now, I think that he has probably seen alot more already than he will see in the movie. If he has seen a PG 13 movie, then he will not be shocked. By the way, "The Godfather" is one of my all-time top 5 movies. Favorite scene, hmmm......probably Don Corleone and his grandson in the tomato garden.

My favorite scene would be at the end when Marlen Brando is old and he is in the garden with his grandson, it was so realistic.
I think your son should see it if he is a mature 13,the Godfather doesn't seem half so bad as what they have in the movies today.

I think "The Godfather" is a cinematic treasure. My favorite scene is when Don Corolone addresses the other Dons at a meeting after Sonny was murdered... and he talks about bringing Michael home.

I think if he is as mature as you say, it should be fine provided you watch along with him. I'm not sure it's OK for kids to watch bloody/violent scenes without an adult to make sure they understand the difference between movie violence & real-life violence.
My favorite scene is from Godfather II when Vito Corleone (Robert DeNiro) returns to his village as an adult & confronts the man who killed his family.

I never saw the movie series. So I couldn't answer the former. As for the latter, I think 13 is too young to see it, due to violence, nudity, bad language and sex. If you watch it for him, then it's okay to give him parental permission to watch it. But honestly he should wait till he's 18-so give or take, another five years can do so.

if you feel your child can handle it then go right ahead. it is your decision to make, no one elses.
As for the best scene on the series, i would have to say it is the baptism in the first movie intercut with the assasination of Michael's enemies. To me, this is the most powerful scene ever shown in the movies
