My ex boss wants to rehire me as a consultant, but my wife thinks I shouldn't take the job since I was fired out of the blue. It's good side money, and it was two years ago. I let hard feelings go fairly easily, my wife doesn't. Do you have differences like this with your significant other?

First of all why is an old boss considered an "ex". I've worked for men in the past and to me they "were" my employers, period.
Your original question and the reason behind the question don't really go together. Or do they? If so, then I side with the wife.
As for my significant other, he would be pissed at me too if I tried something like that.

Definately. In my last job, I gave my boss two weeks notice. He wouldn't let me quit, offered me great incentives, less hours, more money, etc. I left because I started my own consulting firm and had freelance opportunities, but I could have worked for him as well and made more money. My husband didn't support the idea because of the crap my boss had put me through all the years I worked for him. I never took that stuff personally, you have to take it as who it's coming from, lol. At the end I listened to my husband and missed out on a couple of extra thousand a month, but I guess it was worth it, since it made him happy and I probably saved myself from his b.s.

I have the same problem. Every time I want to go on a killing spree,my wife gives me hell,just because of the possible lengthy prison sentence. Doing ten or twenty is no big deal,whats her beef? I always send her the 60 cents an hor I get paid in the prison laundry,what more does she need to feed our 7 kids?

i think that you and your wife should talk it out and then decide. if the boss is female and an ex, then i would have a problem with it too.
otherwise, why not go for the extra money

I think you need to grow up. It should be a BIG deal concerning your wife's feelings. Now what if it was turned around and her ex was back in her life? Would you still not care. If your answer was nope still wouldn't care... I feel sorry for her.

As long as this X doesn't re-enter your sex life what is the problem. A JOB is a JOB....$$$ makes the wheels go! Your wife is angry because she is not in control of you! Maybe there is a TRUST issue ....with you and this X!!

my wife is the same way...im in the military so when im on leave or things like that i try to get work on the side just to keep me busy..anyways this girl wasn't even my ex...she was just a friend who had feelings towards me but never acted on them....well my wife was angry towards me wanting to take this job..but like you said its good side money...every little bit helps right....well after talking things over we finally settled on me taking the job...i think its the whole fact of her being your ex and in my situation her having feelings towards me...
