Did this woman deserve this? Why arent tasers only used in deadly sitautions?

Right now, police officers can use tasers on citizens for minor reasons. Many people in the United States want tasers banned or they want the police to only use tasers in deadly situations. You may get tased one day for a minor reason, so I suggest you sepak up about how and when police officers can use tasers on citizens.

I hear you....my local community has only had to deal with our current Chief of Police for about a year, maybe a little more, and the first words out of his mouth were "tasers". Luckily for me, the first words out of my peer's and neighbor's mouths were "HELL NO!" Really....a lot of folks knew what was up with that, the local police at my end had already *spent* as in money already gone, hundreds of thousands of dollars and countless man-hours teaching the police the *right* way to deal with minor offenders and people with "mood disturbances"....verbal de-escalation. But nooo, the new Chief wanted to take the cheap way out and MAIM folks....

And that, as they say, was a year ago. He has no tasers, but the city *did* approve the purchase of an anti-riot personnel vehicle that is basically a TANK without the gun turret...

Which was recently abused in a case where a man was about to committ suicide, it was CLEAR he was about to kill himself, and not only did the police NOT allow the man's own family to speak with him, but they got a *hostage* negotiator instead of a crisis counselor to try to "talk him down"....and why?

Just so a bunch of power-tripping Good'ol'Boys could test their Hate Tank on a man, use it to wreck his car and drive him to kill himself. Oh, and I need not mention that this was a person of color do I?? It really should NOT matter in the 21st century, but there it is....our Police Chief seems to be a total bigot here, at least as regards people of color and/or folks with "mood disturbances" here in Champaign.

Geez. What is up with the Creeping Redneckism in America anyway? Aren't these fools happy enough ruining their *own* little rural backwaters, now they have to move north and ruin all they touch here too?

Really, I moved here to Illinois from Missouri in part to *get away* from that and get *to civilization*. WTF??

ok im going to make a couple of points here and e-mail me back if you want to debate this more
first of all cops use tasers to avoid having to use deadly force like a gun or avoid injoring the person with a baton a taser is a high voltage weapon (let me restate that it is a weapon) that leaves no permanate bruses and there is no risk of broken bones.

second the woman was told 3-4 times to get out of the vehicle and put the phone down or she would be tased (which im not sure is a word or not) its not like he did not specifically warn of that of the conciquenses of not getting out.

Third and finally the woman could have been calling a boyfriend or someone to injure the cops so he had to protect himeself and his partner

Oh I've seen this a million times. How stupid do you have to be to not do what a cop tells you to do...PLUS he told her over and over again, I AM GOING TO TASE YOU!!!
If a cop tells you stop, get out of your car, or anything else, and you don't do it...he should be able to shoot you up your a-s.
People are so stupid. If a cop told me I was going to get tased if I didn't get out of the car...guess what I would do...get out of the car.

O.K. HERE IS MY THOUGHT I WOULDN'T WANT THAT DONE TO ME............... Great video, really that was awesome to watch. She had it coming. She should have kept her trap shut and followed instructions. They are not used in deadly force situations because they are not considered deadly force.

oh gawd, that was so cool. the cops here just beat you with clubs on the head if you dont kiss their azzes. For example if you get out of you car during a routine traffic stop they will kick the carp out of you.
