Did this woman deserve this? Why arent tasers only used in deadly sitautions?

Right now, police officers can use tasers on citizens for minor reasons. Many people in the United States want tasers banned or they want the police to only use tasers in deadly situations. You may get tased one day for a minor reason, so I suggest you sepak up about how and when police officers can use tasers on citizens.

Oh I've seen this a million times. How stupid do you have to be to not do what a cop tells you to do...PLUS he told her over and over again, I AM GOING TO TASE YOU!!!
If a cop tells you stop, get out of your car, or anything else, and you don't do it...he should be able to shoot you up your a-s.

Assuming that she really did swing at the officer on the right side of the screen (which I believe, even though you really can't see it), she absolutely deserved everything that happened to her. She was combative, abusive, unreasonable and turned a minor traffic stop into a ridiculous ordeal for everyone involved. There was no "minor reason" for her getting tased, it happened because her behavior escalated a simple stop into an arrest situation. When she resisted a completely legitimate arrest, the officers had no choice but to use escalating force (voice commands, physical restraint, non-lethal action, then lethal action), all of which *she* could have prevented. Your suggestion that tasers be used only "in deadly situations" makes no sense whatsoever. If someone is attacking the police with a deadly weapon, do you actually think that they should just shock the person? What if the officer is responding to someone shooting at your family? Do you really want that person to be free to jump back up the moment the electricity stops? Show me a person slinging hot lead towards you and your kids and I want to see a cop returning fire.

Long story short, you're arguing that cops are tasing people for "minor reasons." This wasn't a "minor reason." This was a woman who refused to follow simple and reasonable directions from police who were acting professionally and politely. They did everything correctly, up to and including zapping her like a bug light.

She got exactly what she deserved! Anyone who knows anything about law enforcement can clearly see that the officer followed a good procedure. He asked for compliance but was ignored. He then ordered compliance but was ignored again. He then has the right to take it to the next level. He even warned her about the taser. She was too busy thinking she was a bad *** to heed the warning. I'll agree that there are some officers who abuse the taser, however, in today's society they need to have this option. It is very simple to follow the orders of a police officer, and if that is being done nobody should have to worry about being tasered when they don't deserve it.
