Some people probably have the sphincter control to trap an air bubble in their rectum, but it wouldn't go to the lungs, it would leave the digestive tract the way it entered. The digestive and respiratory tracts only connect way up at the throat.

Technically, the route is possible. If you can maintain an open in-organic tube (your ashhole to your lunges via esophogas asn trachea with a plastic tube) and made your nose and mouth air-tight.
However, The length of the tube, being 23meters long or whatever the the intestine-length is, makes it impossible to breathe efficiently or at all. First, the air would have to travel the entire 23 meter distance, in which your lunges do not have the vacuum capacity to have the air travel that distance. You would die within the hour if you tried long-turn butt breathing because your inhaling the air you exhale.
Secondly, your ashhole is used for releasing crap so I dont know why you want to smell farts all day.
Third, stomach acid would leak into your lower digestive area if you make that open air way and burn your insides.
Forth, your gag reflex would be on every second.
Five, your better just to have an opening on your neck area like those people that breathe with a hole around their neck-area..forgot what they were called.
So final answer, no. high inefficient if not dumb.

Hey, I know what you are going through because to be honest, I've been there before... First, you need to look at life from a positive aspect and enjoy the fact that you (hopefully) have a great family and are still on this Earth breathing. What I did which helped me immensely was just plain eat normally. Don't overdo anything, just eat about a quarter pound of meat for dinner, some veggies, and maybe even a little snack after if its not too late. I wouldn't eat anything within two hours of going to bed, because that turns straight into fat A little exercise would definitely help also. Good luck hun, and don't stop believing that you can be what you want to be.

Although she’s right, I’m just thinking of taking Christine g’s answer to the extreme. In THEORY, couldn’t some air work its way up the intestinal tract, and assuming it makes it past a few sets of sphincters, it could make its way up to the stomach where it could be burped out and that gas could then be inhaled.
Highly gross, yet remotely POSSIBLE…..but why?????

Definitely not. The bottom side isn't connected in any way to the respiration system, thus air wouldn't go to your lungs even if you could somehow "pull" the air inside...
