Not a sexist question but I've been told research has shown there is a formula to work out compatible ages?

Question

This concerns older men in relationships with younger females. Obviously as an older male I'd like to think there is some truth in it. It goes as follows take your age (for example 50) divide by 2 (25), add 7 (32).
I'm neither trying to depress older women nor fill those younger with horror but if the formula is right can I smile now?

Doesn't work when I apply it to anyone I know in a successful relationship. We are all around the same ages as our partners, maybe a couple of years younger. I think relationships with big age gaps can work, but that most of us probably have more in common with people nearer our own age.

That sounds cool, i prefer a younger woman, i don't see anything wrong in age difference as long as you have love and understanding between the 2 of u, i'm 38 and prefer a woman aged 26-34 ish.

Interestingly enough (in the style of QI) a similar equation predicts the height that your children will achieve when fully grown:

(Mum's height + Dad's height) divided by 2 = x
x + 7 = son's height
x - 7 = daughter's height.

Couples I have known where the husband is much older than the wife, the husband tends to be a control freak, sad but true.
