Because 99% of all people don't think as you do. Because 99% of all people want to be superior than the others. Because 99% of all people are poorly educated. Because 99% of all people don't have the smallest drop of understanding for other people. Because 99% of all people don't know the world is not flat. Because 99% of all people don't know what to do when they're bored. Because 99% of all people are in fact stupid.

Everybody has done something you could define as racist at some point. Whether it believing in and enforcing a stereotype into their judgement (such as black people are lazy, white people are all racists who can't dance, mexicans are all job-stealing illegals, etc.), or actively discriminating against or picking on someone because of their skin color.
For some absurd reason many non-whites believe they are exempt from being a racist, but the fact of the matter is that they're not. Racism isn't just "you hate black people." There are several blacks who hate mexicans, mexicans who hate puerto ricans, asians who hate blacks, and whites who hate whoever.
Personally, I'm not a racist, and so far haven't come across any racist remarks on yahoo answers. Then again, I'm new to this, so we'll just have to see... Try and combat their hateful remarks by either ignoring them, report them, or use logic. Like find an example of a member of their own race doing something they accused your race of doing and showing them that not only does race not dictate behaviour, but their race is no better then yours if their basing their judgements on behaviour and action alone... Just try to be civil and intelligent about it, even if they're not, and you'll wind up being the better person for it.

While there are certainly many racists out there, I see that it's mainly a bunch of trolls doing the modern-day version of prank phone calls. The anonymity of the internet and the ability to shock lots of people are irresistable bait to a troll. If we don't act shocked and don't publicly or privately respond to them, they will go away (when the fish aint bitin', the fishermen go away). That will eliminate one segment. The real racists can be helped by realizing that we ALL have some negative judgment and conditioning -- and the separation from others is the problem, no matter what context it occurs in. If I judge a racist as someone evil -- as opposed to someone who was conditioned with racism -- then I'm, ironically, engaging in the same problem: defining myself by comparing myself to others. I'm white and married a black women and I'm still amazed at the racism that pops up in me because of my past conditioning. It's not something that's evil but something that should be looked at and worked on -- not something judged against.

they are not only on yahoo, they are all over some just make it clearer than others. They just hate because they would like to be like an African American Beauty. They are jealous trust me, as soon as the sun comes out they lay in the sun all day and even go to a tanning beds. Since when do people hate something but want to be like that something or someone they hate?? Its being jealous not hate.

Unfortunately, those RACIST in YAHOO are computer literate and they just love to bug around - they happen to enjoy what they are doing without even pausing for a few seconds and look and examine their physical attributes if they were perfect enough to become racist - as if they do not have any imperfections in their system. As if they are the most intelligent individual alive and as if they are the most powerful, wealthy creature created by God.

It's not just Yahoo, it's this country in general. Ignorance and intolerance just breed racism and too many people just refuse to see people for the human inside the body and tend to look at the world in shades of colors. Sad but true fact racism exists and will not change any time soon. Makes me sick too, why the hell can't people just treat others equally and quit bringing race into it. The world is filled with beautiful colors just look around and see it.

very good question. I have seen alot of racism come from yahoo. and it should be unacceptable. I am starting to think differently about yahoo. I think they should have a better system to void/block any racist statements.. I am saddened that racism is still alive today. Only God can judge and everyone will have their day of judgement. And to be a Christian I have to love my enemies, I pray for the racist souls.

Because it is annonymous, and whatever people say has no real consequences to them. They can't be sued, told on, or accused of harrasment. If reported, it doesn't really matter, so the annonimity allows people to express views that maybe they can't express in the work place or anywhere.
And it's not just against African Americans; it's against all minorities.

That's what I've been wondering. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees it.
But to be fair, not all people on Yahoo Answers are racists, just the loud-mouthed obnoxious ones.
But I will say I'll happy to see all the love that you've been getting from everyone who responded.

this is United States YahooAnswers. This is the country that enslaved the Africans and brought them here as slaves. They freed the slaves but that doesn't stop racism. I think most of the racist people on here would "mind their tongue" if you were face to face with them.
