They are always wrong anyway!!! That is my opinion anyway, I find if they say it sucks, it is usually a good flick. If it looks decent, I go.

You don't need critics if you plan on seeing every film released and there isn't enough time for that. You have to test any critic's judgement against your own; let them sit through all the crap and try some of what they recommend. I see what I want and occasionally add (or subtract) based upon reviewers with taste similar to mine.

I never care about what they say. I just go see any film that looks good to me and is of my interest with my sister, who has the same taste as me. I hate going to the movies with those who always say, "Oh I don't care. Anyone's fine," but then when you suggest something, they go, "You want to see that one?" It just drives me crazy.
Anyway, I agree with you. We should base films off our own judgement. Plus, to each his own, so you can't always agree with other people, especially critics, who think they are smarter and know what WE like.

Yeah we should base the greatness of films off our own judgement, but I guess we're supposed to listen to critics since they are so much better at watching and understanding movies than the average person. (Note the sarcasm)

I don't care what they say. I care about what I say. Some people are just dumb and when they hear that so-and-so critic said such-and-such about a movie, they want to go out and buy it. You know who ahs better judgement about movies? People that you know and who have similar taste in films as you do. That way, you know the person, you trust their judgement, and that's it. And then after that, you can refer it to the next person and so on.

Very true. Most people that live here in America greatly depend on what the critics say to determine if they should pay their hard earned $10 to see a movie. But in the end your own opinion is the only one that matters.

It's simple, people like to think thazt they're smart, so they either agree, and therefore think that they're as smart as a professional critic, or they disagree, and get off on the fact that they think they're smarter.

Well, they are just like someone we know giving an opinion. It's another opinion to get a slightly better idea of how you might like a movie.

Because going to the movies costs too much to waste money on crap. Find a critic who gives positive reviews for movies you like. Then use his/her reviews to help you select future possibilities.
