Origami, Japanese paper folding, you can make an infinite amount of cute things. You could make paper boats, paper hats, anything out of paper mache. You can find a book on Origami in the library or I bet the internet has crafts you can make from newspaper. If this is for children in the classroom or your children at home you can have hours of creative fun. Let them use their imaginations. They can make forms from coat hangers and shape them into animals or cars or people or anything and then start shaping them by paper mache (paper dipped into light paste) and wrapped layer and layer until they look like what they wanted to create. This is a long process because you need to let each layer dry before you start the next layer. After you finish the creation you can paint it and you will never see the newsprint.

I once used newspaper and glue to make Gary for my son's Spongebob costume. It stood about 1 1/2 feet tall. I used an old skateboard, bent some construction paper and cardboard to make the frame, and filled in the rest with strips of newspaper dipped in a half-and-half water and glue mixture.
