I'm sorry they "wouldn't let you nurse" on Zoloft. Dr. Thomas Hale, who is *THE* expert on drugs and breastfeeding, says that Zoloft is "the drug of choice" for breastfeeding mothers!
It has a low, low transfer rate to breastmilk (17-173 ug/liter) in mothers taking up to 150 mg/day. In one excellent study of 11 mother/infant pairs, the zoloft was UNDETECTABLE in 7 of the 11 breastfeeding infants' serum and minimal in the other infants.

First off, you should be asking a doctor or pharmacist this, not a bunch of people who have no idea!

Second, I went on Zoloft shortly after having my son and they wouldn't even let me nurse while taking it.

I have heard that it is safe, but I still wouldn't try it, just in case. I mean, you always see on tv those "bad drug" commercials. So many things just aren't known yet and zoloft is a fairly new medication.

It is best of you can be weaned off before getting pregnant. I read an article on Yahoo! news todat that says babies born to mothers on Zoloft, Paxil etc.. go through withdrawl once they are born. I am getting weaned off before I start my family.

You need to talk to your OB doctor about any medications that you can take while pregnant...not people online...people can tell you anything and can do harm than good.

I wouldn't take anything like that when I was pregnant, too many risks.
