I answered a similar question some days ago (I'm including the link, but it's in Spanish).
The venom is not mortal for man, but it is for smaller animals (such as dogs). In humans, it causes excruciating pain, and a local reaction that includes focal pain and swelling. The pain lasts for a long time and there's no specific antidote. The only drugs to diminish the pain are locally administered IV anesthetics.

never got kicked by one. if you just got hurt with a platypus, go to the doctors, dont take the chance.

I have read that although not lethal to humans, it is very pain full and the swelling can last for months.

It can't kill a human, but it can kill most animals smaller than us. I wouldn't put little kids around it either.
