Subliminal messages do not work to affect your behavior unless the set-up is exactly right, e.g., in a laboratory setting, sitting X inches from a computer screen that is at the right level, etc. There is no evidence that subliminal messages in advertising work, for example. Usually the effects are fleeting and subtle.

If you watch television a lot of national advertising contains subliminal messages of some sort. Especially beer commercials.
Of course they are not obvious in any way. Never are. That's what makes them subliminal.
