oh HECK no. in that price range, there are tons of other great guitars to buy. how much did you pay? can you return it? a set-neck Epiphone Les Paul with rockin' pick-ups would be great and cheap, too. did you ask any more-experienced guitarists before you bought that? I feel sorry for you. So many budding guitarists give up early on because they have to start on crappy instruments. It's just not fair... I can only save so many...

Seems like a good beginner guitar. You can read reviews at http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Peavey-Raptor-Plus-EXP-Guitar?sku=511355 Looks like a lot of happy customers, I saw only one bad review.

the strings get knocked out of tune really quickly, especially if you're bending or using your tremolo bar a lot. Excellent buy and great quality especially for classic rock, blues or heavy metal. I suggest getting a set of Tune-Locking tuning knobs to go with it. With those knobs and this guitar, you can't go wrong.

Not bad for chinese. Basically a Fender Stratocaster copy. It's pretty remarkable what you can get these days for pretty cheap. That's because they're made by naked slaves standing in vats of chemicals in third world countries... usually child slaves.
