I loved Peter Pan. True, I was a big fan of the musical with Mary Martin which relied heavily on the original text of the book/play by Barrie...so the language and dialogue was very familiar and very comforting to me. I can see how it might come off as "cutesy" to outsiders who aren't really Peter Pan fans though. Particularly the prologue (first five or ten pages where the author is discussing childhood and innocence and growing up in general) could be seen as sweet and in some ways overly so. But then the rest of the book is action-packed. I read it as an adult having grown up with the musical. I did love the book. Thought it was great. So I don't know what a kid's perspective on the book itself would be...It's not that long. Probably over a hundred but less than 250...maybe even less than 200.

Tink DOES NOT die.

You can read the entire book online.

If you are a fan of Peter Pan, you should read PETER AND THE STARCATCHERS by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. There is another book they've just written too. These are 'prequels' of sorts on how Peter Pan became Peter Pan.

The book is pretty dire - the language is over-flowery and cutesy-wutsey. To be honest, I never got far enough in to find out if Tink dies.
