Can toric lenses really slow down astigmatism? How much are toric lenses? proffesionals please help!!!?

im 15 years old and I have pretty bad bad astigmagtism and myopia and ive read that toric lenses can slow down astigmatism. is this true. ive been weraing glasses since i was in kindergarten or pre kinder. my prescription is:

Sph Cyl Axis
OD -5.50 -4.00 010

OS -4.00 -4.75 168

This is from this time last year so my vision may have gotten a tiny bit worse.

i have been wearing toric lenses since i was 16. Im 20 now, and they have worked wonderfully. I have pretty bad vision too. Just take an eye exam with the optometrist and tell them you want to try toric lenses. They will order a trial pair for u and u can wear them for a week to see how well they work for u. But consult ur doctor, nobody on this message board cangive u a better answer then ur doctor can

There are very few professional medical personnel that frequent this forum. Mostly a lot of RNs, paramedics, and techs. Not many optometrists or MDs.
I don't know if toric lenses can slow down astigmatism, but since I have been wearing torics, my vision has not got worse. I don't know if its the lenses or if its something else, but its worth a shot.
Toric two week or one month wear lenses run about $25 or $30 per lens.
Just talk to your optometrist and he will be able to fit your for toric lenses and he will be able to answer your question a lot better than I could.

Nope toric lenses dont gradual down or lessen astigmatism. It handiest alter the lenses as a way to see appropriately. In Singapore a couple of toric lenses will with no trouble rate round SGD$220-380.
