Hi I am 19 yrs old 37 weeks pregnant with my first child. I was wondering if it is normal or if it has happened to anyone else. Ok my question is I have been depressed and I think about death and dying a lot it really scares me. It has never happened in my life until I got pregnant like the 2nd trimester, that is when I first strted thinking like this. Basically please do not tell me to talk to my doctor I am going to at my next appt. I am just looking to see if it has happened to anyone else when they were pregnant. Any advice or how you delt with it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Sweetie, during pregnancy hormones are running rampant in your body. It is possible and normal to have feelings from cloud 9 joy to depression and troubling thoughts. I am glad you are going to talk to your doc about it....wise choice. My friend who is in her 30's and just delivered her third had thoughts of stabbing herself in the stomach to kill the baby. She would NEVER EVER do anything like that, but the thoughts just kept coming to her mind. It stuck with her for a while and then it just left....thank goodness. She just talked to close friends and her midwife about it and that seemed to help. God bless you and the babe~Jamie

Hi, I don't know what that other girl is talking about. I had the same deathly thoughts when I was pregnant with my first child. He is now 12 years old. When I was pregnant I was in a maternity home for unwed mothers. I was so scared, I had thoughts of death, scared that i might hurt myseof or child and it was completely normal. Your scared to be a new mother and doing by yourself and even if you have help your still young. No one tried to take my baby, and the thoughts went away after I had my son. But if for some reason you have post partum depression afterward talk to your doc and get the meds that you need. It's alot to take in when your young and pregnant and it is all normal. I have a healthy 12 year old son that makes straight A's in school and i am now married and we have a 3 year old daughter now. Talk to your doc but it is totally normal. Your not insane.

I'm 18 and only 14 weeks pregnant for the first time. I have not felt like that and i don't think i really will because I really want my baby buttt i have been feeling depressed like nobody really cares how i feel, like when i'm feeling sick and stuff it's like bacause I'm not really showing a whole lot they think I'm faking it or something and it makes me really sad and sometimes i just cry out of the blue for no reason at all. so it's probably just the emotions all building up making you feel that way. I used to feel like that sometimes before I was pregnant and love was the only thing making me feel like that. I have a guy who will be there for me but even if I didnt i know that once I have my baby that baby will love me and I will love it back more than anything, so just keep that in mind because I'm sure it will be the same for you.

It's probably just one of those hormonal things combined with maternal instincts kicking in. It's perfectly normal, especially when you realize that you're about to bring home a tiny creature who will be totally dependent on you. You're absolutely right to discuss this with your doctor. Make sure you let the doctor know if the depression persists or worsens after the baby is born. Try to get out as much as possible and spend time with positive people. Exercise and cheerful companions always helped me. Congratulations on the blessed event. Good luck!

I am 19 and 33 weeks pregnant with my first and I have been feeling the same way. Maybe depression runs in your family and the increase in hormones made it all come out and you will most likely be effected by post partumn depression too. I agree that you should talk to you doctor but, Whatever you do be careful about how much detail you go in with them. I have heard that they single out young mothers who are depressed and try and get thier babies taken away from them. Because they think they are going to kill thier babies. Good luck I hope you feel better

It has never happened to me, but your hormones are going crazy and that could be the cause of it. I really think you should contact your doctor maybe now instead of your next appt. especially if your thinking of hurting yourself.
I would also watch out when you have the baby for the baby blues, if your feeling this arldy you might feel worse afterwards also.
Talk to your doctor ASAP....
Gl to ya and Gratz on baby!!!

Get professional help immediately, you have really high chances of developing post-partum depression, in fact according to yourself you are already depressed, and that ain't funny at all.
Don't feel like you are a weirdo or anything, pregnancy hormones can mess you up really bad, so again, get medical help immediately.
wish the best of the best, good luck and God bless.

Completely normal!! It will go away as soon as the baby is born. By then, you'll be so busy caring for your baby you won't have time for anything else. I've had 4 children and had weird thoughts and dreams every time!!

Your hormones are so out of wack when pregnant so it is normal. I had good and bad days during both pregnancies. Unless you actually thought of taking your own life or that of your child, I would not worry about it too much. Good luck!

It's completely natural. I had constant thoughts of being in the middle of terrorists attacks when I was pregnant. It will go away on it's own.
