Are you under a lot of stress right now? Stress can cause you to produce extra acid resulting in heartburn.

Are you very overweight? Sometimes, the pressure of extra weight forces food and digestive juices to back up into the esophagus. The medical term for this is acid reflux.

Do you have an ulcer? If you don't know, see your doctor. Many ulcers are caused by bacteria. If this is the case, your doctor can prescribe Protonix for you. It will kill the bacteria and allow you to heal.

Does this happen mostly at night when you lie down to sleep? If so, try 1) to eat less at dinner and/or 2) don't snack within 2-3 hours of going to bed and 3) try tilting your bed so that your head is higher than your chest.

I hope you find relief soon. I know how miserable heartburn can be.

Heartburn can be caused by stress or the type of food you eat. If you are getting it this frequently, especially if it's been going on for that long, you should see a doctor as soon as you can.

Your heartburn could be caused by acid reflux disease. At first this is merely a painful nuisance, but over time, the acid being generated by your stomach can eat away at your esophagus, causing permanent damage and further health problems.

Taking over-the-counter products such as Tums help in the short term, but if you take them too much, it can actually make the problem worse, as the stomach increases its acid production to counteract the drug. It is not a good idea to use such products for too long.

Your best bet is to see a doctor, who can tell you what the problem is and probably give you a prescription to take to treat it. If it is not acid reflux, it will go away eventually, and if it is, you will have the proper medication for it which won't damage your health.

Take care!

My father was having really bad heart burns for a few weeks, and it was unbearable, says it felt like a mild tootache in his chest, finally decided to go to the ER one night and discovered he was in the process of having a mild heart attack. A day later they discovered 3 clogged arteries and the next day he had triple bypass surgery. And it all started with a heartburn feeling. It hopefully isnt your case, but if it goes on, and nothing makes it feel better go to the doctor.Good luck=)

Get protein powder, I prefer soy with no additives. Put some in water and down like an antiacid.

Then check out www.hufa.org and see if it clicks, either the low blood sugar or the yeast links.

Doctor. You probably have an ulcer or some other chronic digestive disorder, some of which can be reversed and fixed if treated in time.

You may want to go to the doctor and check it out, but the little trick that works for me is raw celery. My Dr. advised me to use it when I was pg instead of tums and it works so good I still use it.
