I'm fighting ants right now too and a lot of the suggestions here do work, like the Cinnamon and peppermint. I have animals and cant use poisons, so I search for natural things. I also found out ants wont cross a chalk line, so every place they come in the house that I have found so far I draw a chalk line around it and they haven't come back in there. I haven't found all the places yet because they still love my cats dish in the bathroom.
Cinnamon in the kitchen worked really good, and cedar chips (like the kind you put in hamster cages) around my dogs outside keeps ants, and most pests, out of their yard and house.

yeah, mine too just this year. They're fire ants at that and we have been stung a hundred times. Hurts too. We just got some good indoor/outdoor bug spray (not the cheap stuff) get the goods from lowes or a specialty store and spray inside and out! Just get the baby out of the house before spraying inside.
Or call an exterminator!
Make sure you keep ALL foods sealed tight. If you drop any while eating, pick it up and vacuum/sweep daily. Babies can drop food (unknown) and the ants will swarm to it within minutes. My niece was staying with me, and dropped cheerios everywhere, that's when we noticed them.
...*spray your cabnets with vinegar...they hate it!*

Lemon slices help and I've also heard that cinnamon helps. with a baby crawling around, you need to be really careful about the "bait" you use. I also use ant traps. Put these on counter tops. They are clean and leave no residue. If you need to spray, I would suggest outside the house, around the door frame and maybe windows, wherever they are entering.

We had this problem. We live around a lot of trees, which is how a lot of times ants get into your house. We mixed sugar and boric acid together and place thin layer around windows. When ants cross over window sills it gets on their feet, they eat it because of the sugar and then they die. I wouldn't recommend putting it on the floor's of your doors because of your baby crawling. They used to sell boric acid at the pharmacy. Haven't had to use it for a while now because once ants get another route, that is what they take.

They sell stuff everywhere that kills the little buggers but with a baby in the house I'd suggest finding where they are coming in from first off and sealing up their entry points. Other than that there are a few natural methods from slivers of dryer sheets in your window frames (they hate the things and won't cross them) other than dryer sheets they hate peppermint, cloves, bay leaves and any type of citrus peel.

ummm, my grandparents had the same problem, and they got these cone things that repelled the ants - since i really dont know where they got these, my advice is to call the nearest exterminator company and ask if there are any products that you can buy that will drive the ants away, and if that doesnt work, call a proffessional.

You have open food, probably spilled sugar. If you trace the ants, you will find out what they are eating.
If they are fire ants, try Bengal products. They are great. This is not an ad. I don't work for them.

Go around the whole outside of the house with home & garden bug killer about 6 inches from ground up. Keep wiping the anys up in the house using a wet cloth with dish soap on it. If you can keep them from coming in, and keep wiping them up inside for a few days, you'll win. Sometimes they can come in on electric wires or tree branches that touch the roof, etc.

liquid soap mixed with water in a spray bottle. As the soap dries, the ants die. Please, Please, PLEASE do not use any pesticides where your baby lives.
Ants come inside to escape extreme whether conditions, very wet or very dry.
Within 2-3 days the ants should be gone. After that, spray peppermint essential oil, also mixed with water, in a separate spray bottle where they were coming in. Ant's hate the scent and will "stay away".
Good luck.
