I got a palm tree thats in my yard, but close to the property line. Well, when the leaves (fronds ) fall - some will fall into my neighbors yard. So, my neighbor instead of picking them up and putting them on the grass curb area which is like 5 feet away for garbage pick-up... He throws them back into my yard... F'ing amazing! People cease to amaze me! His plam tree does the same thing in the backyard, but I pick them up and throw them out front for garbage... I refuse to go tp that depth of ignorance...

It really doesn't bother me. I think its rather funny and amazing... I like to keep my yard clean and I look at it as exercise. So, its good for me.

Well, I have to say bravo to you for not stooping to his level. You know what? If he wants to be like that, let him. It's not physically harming you. Just remember: he might actually, one day, realize what he does and if he doesn't, come back and post another question about ways to get rid of a crappy neighbor.

Good luck with your non-violent battle!!

I commend you on your patience with your neighbor and not retaliating by acting as he/she is which after all makes you a bigger person and better neighbor. Legally you nor he is responsible for the actions of your tree for it really is not within your control to direct the direction that the leaves will fall. The leaves that fall in your neighbors yard are not your responsibility and vice versa. Were a storm to blow your tree down an it falls on his property and causes Any damage then it is not your legal ,financial responsibility to fix needed repairs and vice versa. I know this for there was a recent article concerning this in my local paper and the reason is that even though the tree is on your property you cannot control how the tree, branches or leaves fall and neither where. Stay the good neighbor for ultimately that reflects back on you on judgment day. Perhaps you can affably inform him/her of the legalities. Good luck.

Maybe your neighbour thinks you want them back?

I don't know much about palm trees because I live in England - but in my last place we had a large oak tree also close to the fence.

Every autumn I used to get my neighbour to pick up all the leaves that had fallen in his garden from my tree and give them back to me.

Can you guess why?

Because leaves, rotted down, make the best compost you can get.

Unfortunately one whole autumns drop from a large tree, once rotted down, would fill maybe 2 buckets if you were lucky, but mixed with other compost it was very good.

I don't know if this will work for palm tree leaves.
Try it.

PS Just one more thing - when are you Yanks going to start spelling the word "Neighbour" correctly?

For goodness sake!

its a shame that people act so immature...i have a neighbor just like that...my daughter cut the grass the other day and some of her clippings was on the division line and instead of throwing it away she went out of her way to throw them into my yard and the sad thing about it she walked past her garbage can to do this...too bad we dont get to pick our neighbors...however the guy on the other side of me is a wonderful neighbor so i guess i really cant complain so much huh? good luck...

i have the same kind of situation only with maple trees...the wind blows small limbs over in the neighbors yard & they throw them back in mine...same as when they find any trash or soda can...they throw it into my yard. While I don't like it...I show them I'm the better person & just pick the stuff up & take care of it myself. But I agree...it's aggrivating.
Good Luck & God Bless!

I had the same thing. my old neighbor had a tree that was right up against our fence, and the branches went over the fence into my yard. some sort of tree-worm infected the branches and screwed them up, and it would spread if it wasn't treated (to other of my plants). But my neighbor refused to do anything about it because the branches were over my lawn. We had to end up doing it ourselves.....

oh, and this happened twice.

Good Grief! * Sigh* I just don't know what to say to that. Amazing isn't it.

And people wonder why there will never be peace in the middle east.

People can't even seem to be civilized to each other in the best of circumstances!

Sometimes life seems so hopeless!

Don't let him get you down!

You are obviously the bigger person.

Hang in there and keep doing the right thing.

A lot of people haven't a clue about being a good neighbor. And, others don't give a 'foo' what others think about anything. Perhaps, you might consider inviting your neighbor over for a cold lemonade and get to know each other.

As a Block leader in my community I urge you pick it up and think of it as an exercise instead of picking a fight with your ugly neighbor. Some people in my opinion, are selfish and he or she never does anything for others. You can see a pattern and how he treats his family then your answer is concluded. I urge you not to say anything to him and the rule of nature is Never fight with your next door neighbor no matter what, otherwise, you have to watch your back every time and it is not healthy. You are smart not to confront the ugly man and you are graceful and healthy lady.

Well, lets see..... Your trash falls into your neighbor's yard, Waaaaaa he won't clean up my tree's mess, Waaaaaa.

If you were a little more grown up about it, you would just go and pick them up yourself, instead you decide to be utterly lazy, and not offer to clean up the mess your tree made. I wish you were my neighbor, I'd file a complaint and have the HOA fine your a$$.

I have many many trees, plants, etc... And I have always cleaned up the mess they made if they go into my neighbors front yard.

Bummer! There is no explaining some people's behavior. Best thing to do is pick the stuff up and don't get close to the neighbor. Wave hello and be friendly from a distance.

Good luck!
