Yes because it makes people think its an acceptable and desirable size to be.
The trouble is that being too thin has as many associated health risks as being too fat.

I once saw a pair of size 0 pants. Now that's scary! Not that there's anything wrong with someone who is petite enough to fit into such a small size.

This sort of resizing has been happening for years. For instance, Marilyn Monroe was actually a size 14. Of course, 14 was a much smaller size back when she was alive.

im guessin ur in the uk an americans are answerin ur question their sizing system is different. i agree wi u it is scary im size 12 an get alot more male attention than my size 8 friend.in my experience most men prefer curvier girls but maybe thats jus where i live!

size 4 is nothing new.
are you talking about vanity sizing where they make bigger sizes have smaller numbers so women won't think they're fat and they'll buy that brand? THAT i think is scary.
