Yes women can wear the headscarf to work in Australia.

Victoria police even has a special hijab uniform to accommodate Muslim women.

Refusal to employ a women wearing a headscarf can count as indirect racial discrimination and there is some protection under the 1975 racial discrimination act..

I live in the USA and I can wear mine, but I don't know about Australia.
