Lambert 4 rings
Taylor 2 rings

Lambert wasn't has flashy as Taylor but certainly was as good. Two different defensive structures. Taylor was given much more of a free hand on "D". Lambert on the other hand was feared more by his piers than any other player during his career. Lambert was bigger and stronger and faster than Taylor. Check out the stats, they don't lie. Both great HOF'ers. Almost impossible to pick between them........Lambert by a nose.

That's based entirely on preference..

People from Pittsburgh will say Lambert, folks from NYC will say Taylor. Fans from the 70s will say Lambert, fans from the 80s will say Taylor.

Personally, I started watching football in the late 80s (I'm 27 now) so when I look back at the great linebackers that I've seen play I name Mike Singletary, Ray Lewis, Derrick Thomas and Lawrence Taylor as the monsters. I missed Lambert in his prime, but I still respect his game. That dude is known as one of the meanest LBs in history at any level.

When Thomas was drafted by the Chiefs out of Alabama in 89, everyone called him the 2nd coming of LT. Shawne Merriman, drafted by the Chargers out of Maryland in 05, was labeled the 2nd coming of Thomas (Ironic how Thomas and Merriman were/are coached by Shottenheimer). To me, all this means is that for today's game, more linebackers are shaping themselves to follow in LT's shadow. He was big, fast, mean and damn smart. Beyond LT being a great player, NFL and college linebackers 20 years later are still fashioning their game after his.

In my own mind LT is one of the best linebackers in NFL history, off-the-field issues aside, he's right up there with Butkus, Ham and Nitschke. But those dudes were ahead of their time as well, so take it for what it's worth.

Lambert!
And I never even liked the Steelers.
Take away his blow and LT may have never made a Pro Bowl. The guy was doped up his entire career!

Taylor. Lambert was mean and nasty, but teams didn't change their offensive schemes because of him. They did for LT.
