I saw a Spider that looks like a small Black Widow, but where the red hourglass on its butt is, was a yellow one. Does anyone have any info on this?

We live in Canada and the spider has a yellow hourglass image on its back, so we've been looking for it but no luck yet. Any info at all would help.

It may well be a Black widow, however the "hourglass" marking is on the"underside". Some will have an identical colored spot on their backside. Also a little known fact is that they are not always black, they can be gray or brown as well. Another telltale is the web, usually very messy in construction as well as being very strong--they used the webs in WW-II for scope crosshairs.

this is quoted from a website i ran across: "The male is small and greyish while the much larger female is usually a glossy black, with a red (though sometimes orange or even yellow) hourglass marking beneath her bulbous shiny abdomen." So apparently it is a black widow, hopefully this helped.
