Most big chain drug stores (Walgreen's, Eckard's, etc.) carry pre-natal vitamins that you'll find on the shelves beside the standard vitamins. It's amazing how well they work, even on someone who's not pregnant. Made my nails stronger too!

The bad news is that you can't change the rate that it grows -- it's usually pretty constant -- a little less than 0.5 mm per day (that's 15 cm max for a year). And, this is governed by your genes, age and hormonal levels. (The thyroid gland can play havoc with the quality of one's hair.)
What you can do however to help it grow (and prevent breakage) is do the following:
- eat a balanced diet
- get exercise
- have enough sleep
- drink the recommended amount of water daily
- delay your trips to the barber/hairstylist

Trim your hair every 4-6 weeks about 2 cm. This will speed up hair growth and it will keep your hair looking healthy. Make sure you brush your hair at least twice a day..also massage your scalp...Take prenatal vitamins there the best for hair growth.

This may not be the correct answer for you--but I hope it helps.I dyed my hair for many years. My hair would grow, but break off---never getting long. After I let my natural hair grow out, it's not breaking off like it was. I also started using Pantene shampoo & conditioner, and they have helped a lot, too.

This may just be a useless rumor, but I heard that trimming your hair once and then trimming it again two weeks later can help your hair grow a little faster. :)

You can always try special shampoos, but I will tell you now I don't know if they work. I'm obsessed with long hair and I have short hair. What ever you do, do not get extensions , they ruin your hair like you wouldn't believe. Just be patience, It will grow.

My experience with my own hair growth has been pulling it back on a pony tail. Not on a daily basis because you do not want any split ends. I also use Aloe Plant to wash my hair with so that it could strengthen my hair.
