If it's not a self cleaning oven - make sure it isn't before you go further.
You have two options
(1) Ecological option - steel wool and elbow grease. Or you can buy the SOS pads (I didn't see if you were in the US).
(2) Buy an oven cleaning product like "EZ Off". If you have birds or other animals (or people in your home with lung issues) that are sensitive to fumes, buy a cool oven - fume free one. Otherwise, you can buy one where you spray it on and heat up the oven. You may still need to apply some elbow grease when it's done and cooled, but not as much.
Good luck - not one of my favorite jobs. However, if you keep up with it, it's not that bad. Another words, wipe up spills the minute you can, and clean it once a week.

Put a glass bowl of ammonia in the oven and let it sit for no less then 12 and no more then 24 hours. The fumes from the ammonia will loosen all of the baked on yuck. After you get all of the baked on stuff out with a sponge, just wipe down with soap and hot water.
Oven cleaner - $4
Ammonia - 99 cents
$3 dollars left over for an ice cream
sundae when you are done - priceless.

They sell oven cleaner. You put that in there and put the oven on self clean if you have the setting if not follow the instructions of the cleaner.

hey hun....i have to say cleaning an oven is one of the chores that's on the bottom of my list! lol....i have found an easier way to clean one with out all the harsh chemicals and that's using regular windex (walmarts brand works as good as the name brand and you get more of it for your money) and a little metal scrapper( with the retractable blade)...spray the grim with the windex and let set for a few seconds...then take the scraper and scrape it right off...but if the grime isn't really built up you can just use the scraper!....hope this helps....love daisy

Greased Lightning. you can buy it anywhere. spray it all over the oven inside and out, and let it sit. buy a large pumice stone from walmart, home depot. and use that to scrub the real hard spots. you will be amazed @ how clean your oven is. :) happy cleaning

Move, it is easier to pack up a whole house than it is to clean an oven!

i find if you take all the metal shelves out, and place them in a bath with hot water and soap powder, this helps get all the grime of and is so much easier to clean, then just get a mr muscle product to clean the inside of the oven.
