I had a biology teacher tell me "NO" once. But how can it be that, the moon impacts something as powerful as the ocean (dictates tides, etc); but not human beings? We are made up primarily of water, so doesn't it stand to reason that it would affect us, too?

:-)
Great answers so far!!!
I am an RN---I've worked in many settings, & there really does seem to be an influx of odd behavior---be it just increased restlessness, or more bizarre peeps in the ER, or whatever...there really does seem to be a difference.
Don't know about the labor thing (that's one area I've not worked, & my own son is adopted! LOL!)
I love looking @ the moon. And I remember my Mamere telling me about how they used to plant certain crops according to moon phases, etc.

Thanks for the interesting answers!!

I have to believe it does. Like you said - we are 98% water. Also where do you think the term 'lunatic' comes from, huh?

The moon affects tides through the continuous motion over many many millions of years. It takes a long time to move oceans full of water.

If the moon's gravity has any effect on, not just the water in a person's body, but the body's entire mass, then all the movement a body does during the entire day exerts much more influence than the moon's week gravity. You can prove to yourself how week the moon's gravitic influence is. Jump up towards the moon, one evening. See which wins, the moon or the Earth.

But, here are wasy the moon affects a person's behavior. Surfers are well aware that some of the best surf occurs right after low tide, so they try to time their day's activitie's accordingly. Ship's masters do too. Amature astronomers will do some of their best stargazing when the moon is new, to minimize the moon's glare.

An entire nation was mobilized in a grand effort to put a man on the moon's surface, for not much better a reason than because it was there.

I'm not a doctor, scientist, but from years of working in a field where i speak with different people all the time--I would says Yes, because the calls I get just before a full moon(2-3 days) are defiantly different than any other time.

I personally don't think someone will rob a bank because of the full moon, or get married because the moon told them to. The moon affects me though. When I am having a bad day and sit outside for some fresh air, I look at the moon. To see it shining and giving off its brightness is in many ways inspiring and romantic. That's about it.

Yes, it does.

Especially if you ask anyone who is into astrology, or anyone that works in a hospital - the emergency room gets busy on nights there is a full moon, and alot of women go into labor then too.

There have been alot of times where everyone seems around me seems crazy, and I wonder if its a full moon...and it is.

The next full moon is on Wednesday the 9th, my baby is due any time now so Im hoping the full moon will help, Im ready! (That might be wishful thinking but I need all the help I can get!)
