Very close. I hope he does because he's not only a great ballplayer but a good man!

Luis Gonzalez was an above average player. Not a HOF, not even close.

Comparing his double total to Babe Ruth is a red herring. Babe Ruth isn't in the HOF because of his double totals.

There are a lot of players in the HOF that have more doubles than Ruth. What's that supposed to mean?? I don't see Gonzo getting in. His numbers are okay but not HOF numbers. If by chance he hangs around long enough to collect 3000 hits then he should make it.

Nope. Compare him to Rusty Staub, a player who has never merited serious consideration for the Hall of Fame.

-------- Gonzalez (Staub)
BA ---- .285 (.279)
HR ---- 327 (292)
RBI ---- 1303 (1466)
Runs ---- 1287 (1189)
Hits ---- 2329 (2716)
2B ---- 534 (499)
TB ---- 3974 (4185)

And since Luis has played in an era MUCH more favorable to hitters, Staub's numbers are probably more impressive. Does that make Rusty a Hall of Famer?

No offense, but if Luis Gonzalaz makes it into the Hall of Fame, they need to stop inducting people because it has "jumped the shark". He is a good player, but nowhere near a hall of famer.

Sure. He just tied Lou Gehrig for doubles and could play any position you put him in. He is also on my fantasy team and hope he con't to improve the second half.

NO!! We don't honor doubles hitters, especially those that are widely rumored to have hit most of those doubles because of steroid use.

He's had a solid career but he was never a dominant player. So no.
