Good question.

I make a conscious effort to dispense more praise than criticism, so I'd like to believe I work harder to earn praise and reward. But you grow into that over time; when you're growing up and don't know all the rules of society, you may be more prone to work to avoid criticism and avoid punishment. If you're paranoid, of course this does not necessarily apply.

Basically, I think this should be asking what motivates you to work BETTER, not harder. I can work an 8-hour-day yet achieve very little. What are you and I learning from our work and contact with others that makes us better people overall and thereby deserving of what praise and reward we earn? Being 50/50 is not bad, but I've found it gets one stuck in a rut.

Have a greater day!

The only satisfaction I get is to know that I worked for my own 'self'. I don't care what people say as long as I know I did the best of my ability. There is great satisfaction in not working for praise and I certainly wouldn't work in an environment where people would be criticizing what I do. I go to sleep with myself and I wake up with myself and doing the right thing and working honestly and being a good human being is very self-satisfying.... no matter what.

I think I try to avoid criticism and punishment. I like to lay low and just fly threw life not trying to put so much attention on myself.

I think I dispense more praise than criticism, it's much easier to get along with people that way and it make life much easier and happier if you view everything in a positve manner.

As for reward, well here I am looking for a reward (10) points so theres your answeer about that..As for Criticisn, well thats how you learn, by being told this or thats not right, you then learn by what others see. I have a personal standard for myself that is set very high and so am only concerned with it. I do not compete, seek praise and do not like to be in the position to have to avoid criticism

I work hard for my own satisfaction.

As long as I know that I am working hard, criticism and punishment do not affect me(unless its constructive criticism to improve my efficiency)

praise and reward is not welcome on a case by case basis, but recognition for my hard work is definitely required.

all so i can go home at the end feeling good about myself

I can always praise the failures, too!

"Wow!" I said to my 7 year old grand daughter, "You did it just like I told you!?" "So, that's why it is so funny!" when the cake fell... We frosted it as a 'ski slope' cake, with funny little folks all skiing and skating down the slope! One guy, (Me!) was skating UP the slope!
That way, EVERYONE got to enjoy the experience!

You can only encourage, because people do not intentionally fail!
If you don't comment on the negatives, all experiences are 'good things'!
