Indeed. A black hole is just a collapsed star, compressed to the point that it's gravitational pull is astronomically more powerful that the gravitational pull of a regular star (Keep in mind that a regular star's gravitational pull is strong enough to hold planits in orbit of it for billions if not trillions of years.... AND strong enough to pull comets from the middle of nowhere into it's orbit) which is no small amoung of force.

Why do so many people let others fill their head with drivel. How can anyone even be sure of the existence of black holes? Did they see one from a telescope? Oh, please. I once saw an equasion that illegedly explained how powerful a Black Hole's gravitational pull was. I sure would like to know how they came up with this wonderful theory, since they've never even seen a damned black hole.

Whenever anyone asks me where I think people go if they enter a black hole, I always say, "Well, I guess that all depends on what kind of life they led beforehand!!"

To batersplat:

Hey, Stupid. I don't believe that they exist, at least not in the form of a black hole. You didn't even read the question. What, are you from the Ukraine? Does English make your head hurt??? You just did what you accused me of doing. Moron.

I guess that wormholes might possibly exist. Hell, I don't know. I guess in a Universe capable of doing just what is visible from Earth, anything might be possible, BUT BLACK HOLES ARE NOT STUPID PORTALS!!! The Dang End.

By the way, nice name.... NOT!!

No, I do not believe there are portals to other dimensions. Only one of 2 places to go from this life. Great question/info by-the-way!

wait are you disputing the idea of a wormhole/portal or blackholes in general? because they've proven the existence of black holes by the bend of light and by the spontaneous radio emmisions from stuff falling into it. As far as the portal/wormhole goes why is it impossible? is it just impossible because you don't understand it or because it's never been seen? If it is possible it wont really matter because anything falling in will be destroyed by gravity but thats beside the point.

I don't think that it is a portal that one could pass through, but it may have the ability to bend space time, and so if we could figure out how gravity works on this massive scale and could harness that ability to bend space, we could maybe create a bridge to travel over far distances in space, by folding one region of space upon another, so that we could skip the long distance and just make a short jump instead.

no black holes are just collapsed stars with intense gravity
Worm Holes are portal but not to another dimension just another part of the universe

Arrant nonsense you would be crushed to death before you reached the Event Horizon. You have seen too much Sci-Fi.
As for Worm Holes you only get them in the Garden.
Prove they exist first before you speculate on their existence.

if you're doubting the existence of black holes, then you surely haven't done much research on the subject. we know that they exist not by looking at them directly, but through how they manipulate everything around them. and contrary to belief, black holes do not suck EVERYTHING into it. radiation and x-rays come out of them. as for if they are the gateway to other dimensions... who knows... but one thing is for sure: everything in the universe is "information" and energy, and "information" nor energy can be destroyed.

Sure why not, the size of "space" is beyond our understanding.
