Chances are there's a reason the spiders are coming into your home. Considering that it's not spring or fall yet, I would assume they're coming into your home to find a source of food (ie. another insect/pest that you have a plethora of). Usually spiders wander indoors to get at the other bugs in your house, but sometimes they get in to escape the heat during the day. Here are some things you can do to keep spiders our of your home:

1. Clean your house well: If you leave clothes lying around or objects on the floor, it gives spiders a place to hide and more courage to migrate from one place to another in your home.

2. Properly seal all window and door sills: so make sure the layers of windows are intact and sealed correctly. Doors are a good place to put a barrier treatment.

3. Vacuum the area where you have found spiders. Make sure you get their egg sacs as well. The egg sacs look a lot like little cocoons, but they're usually fixed to a surface with a thick layer of webbing.

4. Put away your food so as not to attract other pests: Spiders are attracted to food supplies because of other pests who make their homes there. Besides, leaving food out is what slobs do. You're not a slob, are you?

5. Turn off your porch lights. Spiders love porch lights because other bugs love porch lights. So, keep your porch lights off as much as possible, draw your blinds, and try to find a way to light your porch that doesn't involve fixing a light to the porch itself.

Other than that, there isn't much you can do to stop spiders from coming in your home, besides calling an exterminator. There are however, some spider sprays, traps and poisons out there, but their effectiveness is questionable at best. Perhaps you should take comfort in the fact that 99.9% of spiders can't harm humans?

Aw that's not very nice. Did you know without spiders we'd have millions of flies instead? I know what I'd prefer. Everything is on this earth for a reason and even though I'm petrified of them I would never kill them. A lady I work for who is 90 swears by this and it's true. I know it's the wrong time of year (but not for long) but if you put a conker (yes that shiny thing you get off a tree in autumn!) in the corners of your room it will keep them at bay forever! Strange but true. Try it because I know it works. (No I'm not about to be taken away in a white van! lol)

There is this thing available (not sure where from) callde pestaway. Its a small box you plug into a plug in your house and it emites a high decible tone which apparently only rodents, bugs and arachnids can hear and they stay away. My mum has one and has not seen a spider or bug apart from flies since she got it.

I put talcolm powder down around the outside of my house concentrating on the doors, and i see very few when compared to seeing loads, but this was mainly for an ant infestation I had.

I am really scared of spiders..... Did you know it is true what they say about Dyson's.... they dont lose suction! They are great for hoovering spiders up with... especially those big ones that you get in the bath that wont was down the plug hole.... I leave the hoover running for a couple of minutes after to ensure that they are not going to climb back out, then I empty it in the outside bin.

I wouldn't kill all the spiders, because they eat really terrible bugs, like flies and mosquitoes.
But, if you really want them gone, the next time you go on vacation, buy a bug bomb. It sets off poisonous gas all over your house, and kills everything that is living, spiders included. They really work to get ride of creepy-crawlies, spiders, and fleas. Don't do that if you'll leave your pets there, though.
Kill the spiders' food, kill the spiders.

Hi, If you have any papers, magazines, paper or cardboard boxes sitting around, you need to get rid of those things, or put them away. Spiders love stuff like that.

If you can afford it, they can cover your whole house and fumigate it. If you can't, you can bomb the place yourself. Just follow the directions exactly!

Then, make sure you don't have anything around the outside of your house to encourage them like shrubbery close to the house, wet areas, or areas that are in constant shade. If you have an unfinished basement, you might have to bomb that periodically to keep the little eight-legged beasties out.

Good luck - I hate them in the house too!

Don't get rid of them - spiders are good. They mean your house is dry. They also eat the flies so keep your house fly-free for free! Give them names and keep them as pets instead.

last year i got (from QVC) a plug in magic adaptor,,, it used the electric wires in your home to pulsate a beat that the spiders (and other insects) do not like,,, then they leave.

this has been great,, i used to get at least 3 or 4 big garden spiders a week,,, now none at all...

After 10 years of struggling with all sorts of creams and pills to treat this embarrassing problem I was able to get rid of my varicose veins by using natural healing methods and alternative herbal home remedies.

Read Diane Thompson's "Varicose Veins Secrets" (also available in electronic format at: http://www.varicoseveinscure.org ). By following this guide book I was able to eradicate my varicose veins pretty fast. God bless!
