Like on T.V., and people on here even. It is really offensive, I am a Texan and I am not a redneck, cowboy, or a hick.

because that's the stereotype that Hollywood has chosen to give us Texans. I'm from Texas, too, and I don't worry about it. I'm not offended, and you shouldn't be either. Just be yourself, and defy the stereotype.

Have you ever watched a movie about people from New Jersey? They always seem to be the same type of person. Boston? NYC? LA? It's just all stereotypes that Hollywood has chosen to portray.

BTW, I am a cheerleader. What's the stereotype for that? Dumb, blonde, big boobs, slut. Nope, not me. I have a bachelor's degree, pursuing a master's, dark brown hair, small chest, and definitely not slutty.

Choose to defy the stereotype, and don't worry about what people think of you.

Uh, because it IS? LOL J/K I live in Georgia, and people assume the same thing about us. Even though a good deal of the state IS country and full of hicks, anyone who has ever been to my area (metro-Atlanta) should know better. It's honestly probably just ignorance. South US = poor rednecks.

I'm in England and my vision of Texas is wide open green spaces with a soft wind blowing in your hair as you drive your open top along the turnpike (I think thats what you call a motorway!) And everybody is filthy rich with all the cattle and oil. B.t.w. whats a 'Hick'?
